Interiors conceived at the intersection of place, memory, and light — designed to be lived in fully, not merely admired.
"A room should tell the story of who you are — and who you are becoming."— Valerie Colaizzi
Every space I design begins with a question: what does this place need to feel like at six in the morning, and again at midnight? The answer is never purely aesthetic — it is about the quality of light, the warmth of materials, the way a room invites stillness or gathers people in. I believe that truly exceptional interiors are inseparable from the lives they hold.
My approach is rooted in restraint and intention. I do not impose a signature style — I listen for the soul of a place and amplify it. Natural materials, honest craftsmanship, and an unwavering attention to proportion are the constants. The result is always singular: an interior that could exist nowhere else and belong to no one else.
The landscape, light, and history of a location are not backdrop — they are the brief. A lakefront home in the Tennessee hills demands a different truth than a residence anywhere else. I design from the outside in, letting the setting lead.
I favor materials that age beautifully: aged oak, hand-thrown ceramics, linen that softens with use, stone that holds warmth. Interiors should look better at ten years than at ten days. Patina is not wear — it is the evidence of a life fully inhabited.
The finest rooms breathe. I design for negative space as deliberately as for furnishing — the pause between a window and a wall, the bare surface that allows the eye to rest. A room that says everything says nothing. Restraint is the most sophisticated design choice.
A complete interior design commission for a lakefront estate on Tellico Lake in the Tennessee hills — a 12,000 square foot residence conceived as a place of deep rest, generous gathering, and connection to the water and landscape that define it. Every material, furnishing, and spatial decision serves a single intention: a home that holds the fullness of life lived at the edge of something beautiful.
Bay Pointe Designs accepts a select number of residential commissions each year. Inquiries are welcome from clients seeking a considered, unhurried approach to exceptional interiors.
